New Zealand sees 2 very dominant mobile phones in the Apple iPhone, and the Samsung Galaxy. However overseas demand is spread via other popular phones which on paper should be just as good. Here is a review of of the phones which should also be considered before you buy a new mobile phone.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. It is a phone and tablet in one. A Phablet. This phone is the first phone ever in the world to have a 4K display, making for stunning crystal clear pictures. It comes with a 5.2 inch full HD display with an impressive camera to go along with it. The design is pretty much the same as every other Sony Z model so may be a bit boring to the eye. It has an impressive fingerprint scanner for quick access to features. The only bad thing I have to say is the battery life is pretty poor but what can you expect with such advanced screen technology It also has a compact version if you were wanting something a little smaller.
Expect to pay: $900 – $1000
The HTC M9. With a 5 inch display, it is quite up there with having the best quality. It is slightly bigger than the M8, but overall is the same design. HTC has always been about the sound though. If your looking for a phone that can play sound like a boom box, then this is the phone for you. The BoomSound enhancement turbo charges audio to the speakers to produce a loud and full sound. Thinking of getting a Bluetooth speaker? Why not have a phone with one built in.
Expect to pay: $700 – $1000
Huawei Nexus 6P. This phone is also a Phablet with the big 5.7 inch display. It comes with a vivid QHD Display to make for a sharper resolution for watching videos and movies. It comes with a pretty fast and accurate fingerprint scanner that is located on the back of the phone. With an improved camera and battery compared to leading phone brands, there is a lot to like about this phone.
Expect to pay $1000 – $1100
The LG G4 Series is up next. I have always loved this series of phones, if I didn’t use an iPhone I would say this would be the phone for me. Boasting a 5.5 inch HD screen with a very rich colour display and an impressive camera to match, it is good for capturing moments on film. The back of the phone has switched from plastic like in the G3 to leather and it just looks beautiful. The buttons are located on the back in the perfect position for when the phone is resting in the palm of your hand.
Expect to pay: $800 – $1000
And last off I’m going to review the Huawei P8. This phone is at the lower affordable end of the price range. It comes with a 5.2 inch full HD display and has a metal body design to withstand drops and cracking. It is also thinner than an iPhone 6 and a Samsung S6. The slightly curved edges make it sit in the hand quite nicely and has a nice camera with it. Feature wise there really isn’t anything special about the phone but it has most of the features an android has for a nice low price.
Expect to pay: $600 – $700
Now there are many many more phones available that I haven’t put on this list, but these are the ones that really caught my eye. I still stick with that if I didn’t prefer iPhone I would go with the LG G4. But there is one other phone I would really like to give a go and that would be the Huawei Nexus 6P. Every review I have read about this handset is nothing but positive.
